The Human Resources (HR) Director at the University of Wisconsin - Stout will provide strategic leadership and management to the Human Resources Department, ensuring the university's compliance with labor laws, employment policies, and university regulations.The Director will focus on enhancing organizational effectiveness by aligning HR strategies with institutional goals, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment, and overseeing key HR functions.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field by employment start date.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive HR experience, including at least three (3) years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing HR strategies and organizational change initiatives.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, evidenced by the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
Highly Desired/Preferred
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent HR certification.
- Experience in a higher education environment or public sector.
- Experience with HR information systems and data-driven HR analytics, specifically Workday.
- Proven leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive strategic initiatives, and foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with the CHRO to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the university's objectives.
- Serve as a key advisor on HR-related matters, providing insight and recommendations on policies, workforce planning, and organizational development.
- Support equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts in alignment with university-wide initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement processes in HR service delivery.
Talent Acquisition & Management
- Direct recruitment, selection, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent for the university.
- Ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action (AA) policies.
- Implement effective onboarding, performance management, and staff development programs.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Serve as a point of contact and oversee employee relations issues, facilitate conflict resolution and address concerns related to work conditions, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, including the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Title IX, and other employment laws.
- Ensure a fair and transparent performance management system that aligns with the university's values and goals.
- Provide consultation and training for supervisors and managers to foster a positive and productive work environment.
Compensation
- Lead compensation programs, ensuring competitive and equitable pay practices in alignment with the Universities of Wisconsin compensation philosophy.
- Analyze compensation trends and make recommendations to enhance the university's offerings.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Lead and support initiatives that mitigate risk and safeguard the university from potential legal challenges.
- Monitor and audit HR policies to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices.
Organizational Development
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across all areas of the university.
- Support change management efforts related to restructuring, realignment, and operational enhancements.
- Oversee HR data analytics and reporting to drive informed decision-making.
Supervision & HR Operations Management
- Supervise HR managers and staff, ensuring effective delivery of HR services.
- Assist in managing the department's budget and operational plans.
- Represent the CHRO and HR office in internal and external committees, meetings, and events as needed.

The minimum annual starting salary is $84,500; commensurate with qualifications and experience.
